Ballet D
Ballet D students study Pre-Pointe and Beginning
Pointe while honing their ballet technique. Students in
their 2nd year of Ballet D and higher may be eligible to
join the Student Company.
Placement
Recommended Classes
- Students at this level should be taking 4
ballet classes per week
- Students taking Pre- or Beginning Pointe are
required to take at least 3 ballet classes per week
(higher requirements may be set by School Director
for individual students)
- Pre- or Beginning Pointe as follows:
- All first year Ballet D students are eligible
to take Pre-Pointe
- Pre-Pointe students must take 2 Pre-Pointe
classes per week and 3 Ballet Technique classes per
week
- Students who have successfully completed one
year in Pre-Pointe may be invited by School
Director to take Beginning Pointe classes
- Beginning Pointe students must take 3 Beginning
Pointe classes per week and 3 Ballet Technique
classes per week
- Jazz (must take 2 ballet classes to take
Jazz)
- Modern (must take 2 ballet classes to take
Modern)
- Hip-Hop
- Pilates is strongly recommended for this
level
- Students in their 2nd year of D may be eligible
for our Student Company. See front desk for
details.
Dress Code and Hair
Girls - Ballet
- Plain black (no designs, sequins or
decorations)
- Pink ballet tights (no footless or rolled-up
tights)
- Pink leather ballet shoes with full sole
- For dancers on pointe, pointe shoes must be fit
by Amy at Boulder BodyWear and approved by School
Director
- Hair in a bun with hairnet, bobby pins and hair
clips (no bangs or wispies)
Girls - Jazz
- Dress code leotard
- Black jazz pants
- Black jazz shoes (consult Boulder BodyWear for
style)
- Hair in a bun (do NOT take hair down for
jazz)
Boys
- White short-sleeved crew-neck T-shirt (no
designs)
- Opaque black boys’ dance tights or black dance
leggings over black socks
- Black leather ballet shoes with full sole
- Hair short and neat, or pulled into a ponytail
if long
Boys - Jazz
- Dress code T-shirt
- Black jazz pants
- Dance briefs or dance belt required
- Black jazz shoes (consult Boulder BodyWear for
style)
Hip-Hop
- T-shirt and jazz pants or sweatpants
- Jazz sneakers or jazz shoes
Modern
- Dress code leotard/t-shirt (boys)
- Black jazz pants
- No shoes
Pilates
- Leotard, T-shirt or other exercise top
- Tights, leggings, shorts or other exercise
attire
- Bare feet or socks
