Seeking a highly-qualified ballet instructor

Ballet Nouveau Colorado has been providing exceptional dance training since 1992. In 1999, we became a certified Community School of the Arts, providing conservatory quality training to students of all aspirations. Our syllabus is based on a mixture of the English RAD system, the Italian Cecchetti method, and the French system, and our “neutral” technique builds a great deal of strength and versatility. As our students progress through our ballet levels, they begin the study of Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, and Pilates in order to build diversity in their technique. We are committed to training in an anatomically specific and kinesthetically healthy way.

We are seeking a full time Intermediate Ballet Instructor.

Qualifications
  • Degree in dance or extensive experience as a dance professional
  • Teaching experience, which should include teaching both inside and outside the dance studio classroom
  • Fun, exuberant personality
  • Creativity and flexibility
  • Commitment to high standards
  • Familiarity with English, Italian, and/or French systems of ballet training and an ability and willingness to learn and teach by BNC’s syllabus
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to effectively work with people of all ages, backgrounds and positions
  • Passion for teaching students at beginning and intermediate levels
  • Experience teaching Jazz a plus!
Responsibilities
  • Teach approximately 19 hours per week
  • Substitute teach as needed
  • Teach before or after school ballet classes in elementary schools as directed by the School Director
  • Choreograph high-quality, creative student performance pieces as assigned
  • Teach in-school residencies as directed by the School Director
  • Take on projects related to the school as directed by the School Director
Compensation / benefits
  • Annual salaried position of $23,660
  • Free classes at the School of Ballet Nouveau Colorado
  • Free tickets to BNC shows and events
  • Position is full time with primarily evening hours
  • Start date August 1, 2008
